Scalability and Availability in large scale architectures

The seminar has its focus on large scale sites and their need for reliability and availability. Starting with examples from the area of community sites, models and algorithms for scalability will be developed. Parallel to the discussion of leading papers (see: Guidelines for leading paper discussions. students will perform research work on selected topics and present the results at the end of the course.
