Just as a reminder for myself: we had a games day, a recommender day (with alumni), a science day (with a discussion on Thomas Kuhn) and finally a web day with content management, HTML5 and other things. In our discussion rounds we looked at Microsofts "lost decade", on the future of software (doesn't matter vs. Andresens view. We investigated High-frequency trading algorithms (looking at the trends in algorithms from batch over online to one-shot. We got a demo on the Oculus Rift and had some thoughts on the future of VR and immerson. We had a special guest from IBM who told about experiences from a large scale project at Daimler and the benefits and problems of agile Methods in fixed price scenarios. We had a session on static software analysis tools, learned about recommender systems and how they work. We discussed the filter bubble proposed by Eli Pariser. Finally, a session on concurrency issues kind of overwhelmed the participants...
